About Teak

Teak carries a distinctive, leather-like scent when freshly milled — one of the small signals of a wood built to last. It's particularly valued for its durability and natural water resistance, which has made it a longstanding favorite for boatbuilding and exterior construction, alongside veneer, furniture, carving, turning, and detailed project work. It's a moderately heavy wood with genuinely solid dent and scratch resistance, yet remains easy to work with standard tools. What really sets it apart is its dimensional stability: very low tangential and radial shrinkage means Teak resists warping and twisting even as humidity and temperature shift — a rare combination of workability and long-term reliability.
